String Tensions Compared

The performance of a racket is influenced by the type of frame, the selected string and the tension of the strings. All these items work together to give you the performance you need.

This section describes the influence of string tension on the performance of your racket.

String Tension Comparison notes

Low Tension

The advantage of lower tension is increased power in your shots. It is normally used by advanced players who have good control.

Medium Tension

This is probably the best tension for most players. It should provide you with a good balance between power and control.

High Tension

Players use high tensions as it gives better ball control. If your shots are not as accurate as you think they should be, try using a higher tension.

Tension Ranges

There is s a recommended range of string tensions for each racket. This is normally shown on the racket frame inside the handle.
