Probably the most important question is “What do you want from a Squash string?” This should not be difficult to answer but how much thought do you give to the strings that you use?
All strings have some advantages and disadvantages. You must decide which features are the most important. The main factors are Performance, Durability and Price.
Performance Almost everyone plays to win but also for enjoyment. If winning is the most important, then you really need the best string. Generally, a medium quality racket with good strings should have better performance than a top quality racket with poor strings.
Durability If you frequently break strings it can be quite expensive. In this case, you need a string with better durability. For many players a good balance between Performance and Durability is important.
With some rackets the strings break after a shorter time than usual. This problem is sometimes due to the design of the racket. Many players need a more durable string in this type of racket.
Price This depends on several factors and will vary for different players. If you have one or two restrings each year, the strings are not that expensive.
If you play mainly for enjoyment perhaps a medium priced string is all you want.
If you frequently break strings you probably want a medium priced string.
