Revised 2009
Pronation
This is one of the main reasons for foot problems. It is the name used to describe the rolling action of your foot.
The outside edge of the foot strikes the ground first, and your foot then uses a rolling motion to the inside.
All you have to do is correct this, and your problem should be solved.
The most effective solution to the problem is to use a Sports Orthotic. Selecting a suitable type for sports use is described.
Sports Orthotics | |
This can be the single most effective solution in helping to correct problems with your feet. In simple terms, it is an arch support that helps to overcome the effect of pronation Look for the following features | |
Custom Fitting | The Orthotic can only work correctly if it is the type that can be moulded to the shape of your foot |
Full Length | A Sports Orthotic should be a full length type to prevent movement in your shoe when being used |
Low Weight | The weight should be similar to the normal insole supplied with the shoe, as you would not normally want to increase the weight of your shoes. |
Shock Absorbing | The Orthotic should normally include some shock absorbing material. This is to replace the material of the original insole which is removed. |
